TY - JOUR TI - Environmental Impact Assessment of Offshore Wind Farms: A Simulation-Based Approach AU - LapeƱa, B AU - Wijnberg, K AU - Hulscher, S AU - Stein, A T2 - Journal of Applied Ecology AB - Offshore wind farms are examined with ecological and environmental sustainability in mind. Thus, it is important to understand the impact offshore wind farms have on the marine environment. This paper presents a transparent and flexible method for detecting differences in the number of species with the presence of a wind farm. The model is used with an artificial seabird data set, since it allows researchers to apply varying parameters for four aspects (spatial structure, survey effort and design, environmental factors, assumptions regarding statistical distributional properties of the data.
