AB - The construction of offshore windfarms may become the largest technical impact on Europe’s marine habitats. For roughly a quarter of the area of Germany’s Exclusive Economic Zone there are plans to erect offshore windfarms. Several international conventions as well as national laws necessitate environmental impact assessment studies. We hence suggest methods for standardised investigations on the distribution, movements and flight behaviour of birds at sea. They include visual, acoustic and radar-based techniques and observations
