It is not intended to replace any formal guidance or prescribe action, but rather provide a starting point for understanding the key requirements of the regulatory framework. This document is intended to be read in conjunction with the background document.Multiple Australian agencies have some degree of regulatory responsibility for marine renewable energy (MRE). Regulatory requirements can vary state-by-state and in federal waters so depending on the location two or three levels of government may be involved in the decision making.
