AB - We initiated a post-construction fatality study at the Atlantic Wind Locust Ridge II Wind Farm located in Columbia and Schuylkill Counties, Pennsylvania. Our primary objectives for this study were to1) determine searcher efficiency and carcass removal; 2) determine levels and patterns of bird and bat fatalities using searcher efficiency and carcass persistence rates to adjust for number of carcasses found and estimate bird and bat fatalities; 3) correlate fatalities with weather and other applicable environmental variables; and 4) evaluate the effectiveness of acoustic deterrents in reducing bat fatalities. We present findings from two years of post-construction fatality estimates and trends of fatality at the Locust Ridge II Wind Farms over the duration of post-construction surveys conducted from 2009–2010.
