Abstract
Effective monitoring is important with MHK devices. Having effective monitoring standards includes specific enough to detect expected impacts, broad enough to detect large unexpected impacts, and design for appropriate controls.
The methodology for solving monitoring problems is identifying the physical impacts. A few problems associated with device presence include alteration in water circulation patterns, modification of wave climate, increased mixing of the water column, and alteration in sediment dynamics.
